Giving Back to Our Community
Each ticket sold for the Fort William Rotary House Lottery is more than a chance to win, it’s a promise to make a difference. Thanks to your incredible generosity, the 2024 Fort William Rotary Community Grants delivered over $700,000 in funding to support vital programs and initiatives across Thunder Bay. These funds helped uplift youth, strengthen families, assist individuals in crisis, and care for our most vulnerable neighbors. From supporting youth leadership through the Air Cadets and upgrading facilities at the Boys & Girls Club, to funding scholarships and hands-on programs like Cooking for Cred, these grants are building brighter futures. Families were supported through programs like Our Kids Count and the Christmas Cheer Fund, while vulnerable individuals found new opportunities through Easter Seals, the Elizabeth Fry Society, and addiction recovery mentorship. Critical investments in food security through Shelter House, the Regional Food Distribution Association, and the Salvation Army helped address urgent community needs.
Healthcare and well-being also saw vital support, with $120,000 granted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation for cancer care and youth mental health initiatives, alongside impactful contributions to the George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation, Hospice Northwest, and St. Joseph’s Foundation. The arts were celebrated with funding for the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts, and the joy of summer camp was made possible for children with cancer at the Wilderness Discovery Centre. Each of these grants tells a story of hope, progress, and compassion, a reflection of what’s possible when our community comes together. To everyone who bought a ticket: thank you. You’ve helped make Thunder Bay a better, safer, and more supportive place for all.

“Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario can’t thank the Fort William Rotary Club enough for bringing the camp magic alive again as we returned to in person summer camp after two years of virtual programming. Campers and volunteers had the most magical camp week making unforgettable memories to last a lifetime. From swimming, boat rides, fishing, crafts and so much more, having an accessible and safe place to host our camp week helped us to deliver programming to all of our campers in a more inclusive manner giving them all an equal opportunity to just be kids! We can’t thank you enough for your continuous support in helping light up our campers’ world with opportunities that they have never experienced before.”

“George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation has had a long-standing partnership with the Fort William Rotary Club and has also been generously supported by funds raised through Fort William Rotary’s annual house lottery. George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation and Centre are extremely grateful for all the hard work Fort William Rotarians do to make their house lottery a success year after year. Fort William Rotary’s total giving history was celebrated together for hitting over the half million-dollar mark – $575,554! Donations from their annual house lottery have helped us build our beautiful Centre, have helped us purchase a cargo van, and, more recently, have helped us retrofit 11 treatment rooms with dimmer lights. Their yearly support is crucial and, together, we are helping all of our children reach their greatest potential. Thank-you Fort William Rotary!”

“Our Kids Count relies on funding from organizations like the Fort William Rotary Club in order to provide services that address needs like food security, parenting support, and mental health in our community. Since many of our programs don’t receive core funding, the Rotary is an instrumental piece of what makes what we do possible. Recently, the Fort William Rotary Club donated $25,000 to Our Kids Count for a new fridge and freezer unit – without this funding, we wouldn’t have been able to serve over 9,500 meals in the past year. We are truly grateful for the support the Fort William Rotary Club provides to our community.”
